Indian Head Massage

The course teaches the basic techniques and history of Indian Head Massage. The course is run over four non-consecutive days. There are four modules.

Module 1 – Theory and Practice

Introduction to the course; course structure; learner requirements. · History of Indian Head Massage. · Identify contra-indications to massage. · Learn and practise Indian Head Massage techniques. · Working with Code of Conduct. · Health & Safety.

Module 2 – Subtle Energy Systems

Cultural and historical ideas around the concepts of chakras as an energy system. · Demonstration and discussion about the chakras and their correspondences. · Methods of protection of personal energies; demonstration. · Discussion around the need and validity of the idea of personal energy protection. · Tutor-led exploration of visualisation and meditation techniques. · Commencing Indian Head Massage treatments. · Case history requirements and formats. · Begin case histories for five people.

Module 3 – Basic Anatomy & Physiology

Basic anatomy. · Physiology of head and shoulders. · Understanding the benefits of Indian Head Massage. · Compare and contrast benefits with other complementary therapies. · Further Indian Head Massage practise. · Stress Management Techniques.

Module 4 - Professional Practice

Developing professional practice; leaflets, equipment; environment of practice. · Use of massage enhancements such as crystals, essences, wands. · Use of essential oils and base oils. · Further Indian Head Massage Techniques. · Verbal evaluation of course.
