Practitioner Courses
The practitioner courses are modular based and offer a full qualification to the student from Lucis College which enables them to gain insurance and practice professionally, as well as the opportunity to obtain an academic qualification via the NOCN or ASET. There is a significant element of home study/practice and development on all practitioner courses.
A Health and Safety module is a requirement on all courses. Those that have a current H&S qualification (taken within the last three years) can claim accredited prior learning. Those that do not have a H&S qualification will be required to complete Lucis College's H&S module. This will be at an additional cost of £10.
Courses offered
Crystal Therapy · Flower & Gem Essence Therapy · Indian Head Massage · Ayurvedic Face Massage · Reiki · Emotional Freedom Technique · Hopi Ear Candling
Curriculum
All practitioner courses follow a core curriculum as set out by ACHO and the BCMA. Students are required to complete:
Portfolio: A portfolio should be compiled which should include evidence of your learning and understanding of key points covered in each module.
Journal: A journal or personal diary should be kept detailing your progress throughout the course. The journal can be written, drawn or recorded.
Skill Sheets: There are 5 Skill Sheets that cover the core curriculum. These indicate the key skills that are acquired as you progress through the course. Your tutor will co-sign them when you are both happy that you are competent with the skills itemised on each sheet. The NOCN will check these if you decide to opt for an NOCN qualification. Please keep them in your portfolio.
Case Studies: These record your client contact and provide a way of gaining confidence and assurance when dealing with clients on a professional basis. Clients will be required to complete an assessment sheet also, which will be returned to your tutor. Your case studies should be kept in your portfolio.
Self-Assessment Sheets: You will be given self-assessment sheets to complete so that you can record how you feel your practical work is progressing.
You will be given copies of and guided through the ACHO Code of Conduct, Equal Opportunities Policy and Grievance Procedure as part of the course.
